We are getting closer to Thanksgiving and buying all that food for the Thanksgiving feast can get pretty expensive so we have few suggestions on saving money for cheapskates.

Think portions
You can save money and energy costs by buying only as much turkey or ham as you need. A good rule is - think one pound per person.

Plan for left-overs
Who really wants to cook the next few days after a big holiday meal anyway? You can save money by packaging left-overs in meal sized portions. Decide when to serve and store accordingly.

Shop for your Christmas holiday meal the day after Thanksgiving
There you can find lots of specials on pans of prebaked rolls, fresh yams and turkeys that didn't sell before Thanksgiving.

Retailers are offering bargains too.
Wal-mart announced this week it will feature select 12 pound turkey's for less than 5 bucks! The discount retailer is also advertising completing a Thanksgiving meal for eight as low as $20.
