Fox 16/VYPE Top 16 — No. 7: Little Rock Christian Tight End Dakota Mosley

When Dakota Mosley moved to Little Rock, he gained a new friend and a bigger stage to showcase his game.

Mosley transferred to Little Rock Christian in the spring of his sophomore year after attending Farmington High School. Almost immediately, he became friends with Warriors star running back Michael Dyer.

The two have shared the recruiting process and both have offers from Auburn and Tennessee.

“I think I would still be recruited, but maybe not as big,” Mosley said. “Going to school with (Dyer) helps a lot.”

Mosley ranks No. 8 in the Fox 16/VYPE Top 16 Central Arkansas senior football players’ countdown.

In his debut season at LRC Mosley (6-6, 250, 4.7 speed) became a reliable target for quarterback Jesse Stone. Mosley (more than 400 yards receiving) caught two touchdown passes at Camden Fairview and hauled in a 26-yard score against Pulaski Academy. Opposing defenses struggled accounting for Dyer and Mosley.

“It’s a great thing playing with (Dyer) and the offense we are in,” Mosley said. “Coach (Justin) Kramer works with us in the offense, and the running game really opens up the passing game.”

Mosley’s size makes him an imposing blocker and some schools are recruiting him as an offensive lineman. Mosley also plays defensive line (60 tackles in 2008).

“A lot of (Dyer’s) runs are over on my side,” Mosley said. “Whichever way he is going, I’m going to be on that side. We do a play-action with him, and we hit me because it freezes the linebackers.”

After an impressive showing at the U.S. Army All-American Combine in January, Mosley caught the eyes of college scouts. Auburn, Tennessee, Louisiana Tech and Tulsa offered scholarships. He said he’d like to play college football with his new friend, but insists he’s going to “find the best fit for me.”

In the meantime, Mosley is focused on his senior season. After earning a state title trip in 2007, Christian finished 7-4 last season and lost 24-20 to Siloam Springs in the first round of the 5A playoffs. The Warriors played most of the season without injured signal caller Griffin Kuhn. Stone learned on the run and should be improved this year.

“That’s (a state title) what we are shooting for,” Mosley said. “Last year was a good thing for Jesse. It was too bad Griffin got hurt, but it was good for Jesse. He got some good playing time and got used to being in the game and everything.”
